For over 15 years, Curious Comedy has served the Portland community, impacting lives through the art of comedy while amplifying the voices of underserved artists, including those of the BIPOC, Women and Genderqueer, LQBTQIA+, differently-abled, and economically disadvantaged individuals of all ages.
We have accomplished so much over the years. What started as a small improv theater offering a few classes and shows, has grown into a multi-stage venue and training center with state-of-the-art filming and live-streaming capabilities and a vast assortment of classes and workshops led by incredibly talented instructors. We’ve produced thousands of shows, hosted wildly successful comedy festivals, and provided over $28,000 in scholarships to emerging, unrepresented, and economically disadvantaged students in the last year alone. None of this would be possible without the support of our incredible staff, volunteers, performers, students, and community. We are so grateful and truly honored.
According to the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, Oregon ranks 41st in the nation for state arts funding per capita, at 51 cents per person per year. Oregon has consistently lagged behind most other states in arts funding. Performing Arts organizations across the state are struggling. Unfortunately, Curious Comedy is no exception.
We have set a goal to raise $25,000 by December 31st, and with your help, Curious Comedy Theater can kick off the new year thriving!

- Can I Make a Recurring Donation?
Why, yes! You can! PayPal gives you the option to set up your donation as a monthly or annual charge, or you can opt to become a member and get sweet perks like free shows, popcorn, merch, and more!
- Where Does My Donation Go?
We use your donations to pay our staff and artists, to pay our rent and utilities, and/or to help cover the costs of our programs, scholarships, and marketing. Basically, you’re helping us cover the costs of all the things we need to do to stay alive!
- Can I Say Where I Want My Donation To Go?
If you would like your donation to go to a specific area – such as a scholarship for someone who can’t afford to pay for a class or to support a specific show or program – you can do that! Just email info@curiouscomedy.org and let us know the name the donation was made under and where you want it to go. Easy as that!
