Join us for our first in a quarterly series of Conscious Comedy shows to benefit our community non-profits and start some conversation around what we can do as individuals to build community and make a difference! We will have stand up, improv, and a full viewing of the documentary "On the Ground", which unpacks the realities and root causes of houselessness in Portland. All ticket proceeds from this event will benefit Sisters of the Road.
Sponsored by Alberta Coop, Food Front Coop, and People's Coop- Portland's community owned grocery stores!
Sisters Of The Road exists to build authentic relationships and alleviate the hunger of isolation in an atmosphere of nonviolence and gentle personalism that nurtures the whole individual, while seeking systemic solutions that reach the roots of homelessness and poverty to end them forever.
Sisters is a nonprofit cafe that has offered fresh, made-from-scratch meals for $1.50 from Tuesday through Saturday at the corner of NW Sixth & Davis. More than that, Sisters is a community living room. A place to rest, recharge and connect with others. Sisters is a place where we can laugh, confide, and dream alongside and offer support to each other through the day. For 37 years, Sisters purpose has been to meet these needs and build community. We have continued to follow a community-organizing model and our customers work with staff to guide our work within a strong philosophical framework of nonviolence and gentle personalism.
