David Oehler

David Oehler

David stumbled onto improv comedy when he joined the troupe at Lewis & Clark College in 2011, as he figured he'd be decent at screwing around and acting like a lunatic. Since then, he's been taking classes at Curious, and refining the art of 'weird voices.' In his free time, David loves reading surreal horror stories, listening to esoteric music, and being a snob about movies, tv, and video games. He is too tall for anyone's good.

Doug Galbraith

Doug Galbraith

Doug entered Curious Comedy's Level 1 improv class taught by Rachel Van Nes, along with a friend as a bonding experience. His friend now rock climbs while Doug still practices improv multiple times a week and has yet to look back. Other than improv he spends his time cooking, playing Gaelic Football, and taking the occasional run in the rain. Long before he knew about long form, he was a member of the short-form improv troupe Fellatio Rodriguez (and the Daughters of the Revolution).

Jaime Chaffee

Jaime Chaffee

Jaime was born in Las Vegas, NV and has always dabbled in the arts. From playing musical instruments, doing competitive Lindy Hop dancing, or performing children’s storytimes, her heart has always had a flair for the dramatic. In 2014 she found improv comedy and started training with resident improv teachers from Groundlings, UCB, Second City, and The Pit. She later joined the Vegas team Madhouse, of which she is still an active member, and after moving to Portland started training at Curious Comedy Theater and the Liberators Training Center. In 2017 she joined the Curious house team Monolith and enjoys finding new ways to be ridiculous on stage.

Mike Carlip

Mike Carlip

Mike has been doing some sort of theater off and on for over 25 years. He has worked with Kadmus Theater Studio (VT,USA), Ośrodek Praktyk Teatralnych „Gardzienice” (Poland), The Mighty Theater (NY, USA), The Laboratory Theater of Florida (FL, USA), Theatre Conspiracy (FL, USA). It has only been in the last two years that he has fallen head over heels in deep like with long form improvisational theater after taking a free Intro to Improv class at Curious Comedy Theater. He would like to thank Curious for all the support and knowledge they have thrown his way and you for reading this far into his bio (and maybe for coming to a few of his shows.)

Scott Gardner

Scott Gardner

Scott is a Portland native (gasp!) who began his improv journey at Curious in early 2016. He would like to publicly acknowledge his improvising best friend’s unwavering persistence in suggesting he take that first step. Hooked since day one, Scott now devotes much of his free time to classes, rehearsals and performing regularly with Monolith and other friends. Outside of improv, Scott gazes into seemingly endless Excel spreadsheets, plays soccer and golf (sports!), binge reads, and spends time with his family.

Seth Chaffee

Seth Chaffee

Before discovering improv comedy, Seth taught dance for over 20 years, competed in martial arts, pursued a strong passion for writing and storytelling, and worked as a VR producer/developer. In 2013 Seth’s improv journey began by challenging himself to do something outside his comfort zone. He took his first class and performed in his first show that same night. He was terrified and immediately hooked. Diving in headfirst, he studied with improv teachers from Groundlings, UCB, Second City, The Pit, and The HUB. He was also a founding member of the Las Vegas based improv troupe Madhouse and a regular cast member of The Improv Kingdom on the Vegas Strip. Seth then moved with his wife Jaime to Portland, where he now calls Curious Comedy Theater home, and performs regularly with the house team Monolith.

Sia Marshall

Sia Marshall

Sia Marshall has always been an oddball--er performer. As a kid, she mimicked characters and voices from movies & TV for laughs and loved acting goofy for the amusement of others. Several jobs, many years and a move to Portland later, Sia took an improv class as a way to meet people. She is thrilled to have found Curious Comedy, lots of fellow oddballs, and her long-suppressed desire for a career telling stories on stage & screen. When Sia isn't playing with her awesome teammates, she loves cooking & baking, enjoying nature with her dog, binge-watching shows and teaching part time for Journey Theater Arts Group. Sia is secretly frightened of how abnormally tall David is.

Steve Lutz

Steve Lutz

Steve is a Portland native who joined the Curious Comedy community in 2015, thus beginning his love affair with improv. A lifelong comedy fan, Steve enjoys filling his time with television, podcasts, board games, and performing with his group Monolith. Formerly a member of the group Wyldcats, Steve has performed at Curious Comedy Theater, the Brody Theater and Kickstand. Steve lives with his supportive and loving wife Laura, and his awesome cat Dexter.
