Sing Anyway – Emily Beleele with Reece Marshburn
In November, Emily Beleele with Reece Marshburn present Sing Anyway, an exuberant cabaret about overcoming blocks and barriers: A humorous and clear-eyed exploration of how we struggle with what silences us and keeps us from what our desires, whether for artistic freedom, a relationship, or personal fulfillment.
Sing Anyway is a celebration of being seen and being heard. It is about the risks of refusing to be mute. Song selection includes jazz, blues and contemporary Broadway.
Emily Beleele is a Portland-area cabaret artist, actor, and comedienne. Her penchant is for musical stories, whether they’re Broadway, jazz or torch songs. Her musical partner, Reece Marshburn , is a gifted pianist, composer, arranger and musical director. Other collaborators include director Chrisse Roccaro, writers William S. Gregory and Eric Steinhauser, designer Michael Brumage and technical director Lara Klingeman.
Sing Anyway is funded in large part through a generous Artistic Focus Project Grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
Strong language may be uttered. The show starts at 8:00 and runs approximately 75 minutes.
